Extended Canal trip 2008

Earlier this year I decided to take the boat up to Liverpool, as it is this year's City of Culture. I have found I am more motivated if I set myself a target and objective, even if it (like this one) is fairly flimsy. In the event I did not get that far, going up the Grand Union canal to Hatton flight; onto the Stratford canal; then onto the Birmingham an Worcester canal; into the Birmingham Canal Network to cross Birmingham and go through the Wolverhampton flight; to the Shropshire Union canal which I followed for most of its length; then onto the Middlewich Arm of the Shropshire Union; Trent and Mersey to Anderton Lift between the Trent & Mersey canal and the River Weaver, which is where I decided to abandon my original target and turn back dowm the Trent and Mersey all the way to the Coventry canal; the North Oxford canal and back onto the Grand Union in order to return to my permanent moorings. I started in late March and got back in early August. I thought I would put a few of my photographs arising from my up onto this site as a start to getting back to publishing more regularly.
